Sam Rockwell to Return to the Stage in Arthur Miller’s Masterpiece ‘A View from the Bridge’

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Oscar winner and Tony Award nominee Sam Rockwell is set to star in a brand-new production of Arthur Miller’s classic drama A View from the Bridge. The play will run for a strictly limited 13-week engagement at La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre, with preview performances scheduled to begin this December.

Directed by Neil Pepe, the production also features Rockwell as a co-producer. A View from the Bridge centers on Eddie Carbone (played by Rockwell), a Brooklyn longshoreman whose structured life unravels when his wife’s Italian cousins arrive in America to build a new life. As Catherine—the niece Eddie raised like his own daughter—falls for one of the young men, Eddie’s protective instincts warp into a blinding jealousy. This obsession ultimately drives him to commit an unforgivable betrayal, shattering both his family and his community. Marin Ireland and Tony, Olivier, and Emmy nominee Alfred Molina round out the stellar cast of this gripping tragedy.

Expressing his excitement about performing at the historic venue, Sam Rockwell stated:

“Some of my earliest theatrical memories trace back to my childhood at La MaMa, spending time backstage while my mother performed in the experimental theater of that era. Coming back to this historic venue with Arthur Miller’s masterpiece, alongside such incredible collaborators, feels like a complete full-circle moment for me. I began my professional career in downtown theater, and these institutions have always been a profound source of inspiration.”

Arthur Miller’s seminal play famously debuted off-Broadway in 1965, starring Robert Duvall and Jon Voight, with Dustin Hoffman serving as assistant director. Over the years, the classic text has seen acclaimed revivals featuring powerhouse performances from stars like Mark Strong, Liev Schreiber, and Scarlett Johansson.

Rockwell, who took home an Academy Award for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and earned Emmy nominations for Fosse/Verdon and the third season of The White Lotus, is set to once again showcase his immense dramatic range on the New York stage with this timeless classic.
